CCOF works for you in Washington, D.C. We fight alongside our partners ensuring that national legislation governing food and agricultural policy supports the organic sector. We bring the voice of our members to D.C., advocating for a farm bill that puts organic farmers on a level playing field for USDA services and support.
CCOF strives to maintain organic integrity. We are committed to organic food and agriculture maintaining the highest standards and consumer confidence possible. We work closely with the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) and National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) to make sure they understand how organic regulations affect certified producers.
CCOF speaks up for you. We make sure your voice on organic issues echoes nationwide. Our strong and diverse membership allows us to gather support and spokespeople for state and national advocacy issues.
As a trade association, it is our job to represent the organic perspective in policy decisions that affect our members and the organic sector. Our policy work is guided by our belief that organic agriculture is good for the economy, good for jobs, and good for the environment. We believe that a strong organic sector is based on the integrity of the organic label, and work to combat encroaching GMO technology and promote food safety standards appropriate for organic production.
Examples of CCOF priorities are ensuring strong, well-funded USDA organic programs such as the National Organic Certification Cost Share Program, organic research, conservation programs, support for beginning farmers and ranchers, organic crop insurance coverage, and funding for the National Organic Program (NOP). On the state level, we have worked on a range of issues, including invasive pest eradication, conservation funding, on-farm renewable energy, climate change issues, and regulations pertaining to organic fertilizers.
In order to represent the voice of organic, we need your support. We keep you informed about important issues and give you the tools you need to make your voice heard, so together we can protect organic food and agriculture.
Policymakers need to hear from organic farmers, businesses, and consumers about the issues you care about. Our policy action alerts help you stay informed and make it easy for your voice to be heard.
