The Future Farmers of America (FFA) was founded in 1928 by a group of young farmers with a mission to train future generations of American youth to meet the challenge of feeding a growing population. Last year, CCOF members invested in the CCOF Foundation and the Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund. By partnering with organic sector business leaders, the fund addresses the need for new organic producers through investing in organic agriculture education. Beginning in grade-school classrooms, extending through high school, and into higher education and vocational studies, this year the national fund will award: 25 grants to ​K-8 teachers who integrate organic agriculture into their curriculum through a special partnership with the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom. 25...

Had an extremely hard year? Drought? Illness? Hurricane? CCOF’s Bricmont Fund may be able to help!  Bricmont Fund will give away $25,000 to organic producers who have experienced hardship in 2014. This fund provides direct financial assistance exclusively to organic producers and processors/handlers who suffer losses due to extreme hardship by refunding part or all of a producer’s certification fees. The deadlines for two categories of the CCOF Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund is fast approaching. In a statewide partnership with the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom, kindergarten through eighth grade grants of $1,000 are currently available for organic classroom projects in California schools. So do we. That’s why we are investing in the CCOF Foundation and asking you to join us by making your own tax-deductible contribution before the end of this year. Between 2005 and 2009, the CCOF Foundation led the Going Organic project to provide information about organic certification and production to hundreds of agricultural professionals and helped 40 farmers to convert more than 4,000 acres to organic production.
