Watsonville Strawberry Pomology Field Day, Watsonville, CA
Drs. Doug Shaw and Kirk Larson will provide an update on the performance of the recently released cultivars Monterey, San Andreas and Portola. Several promising advanced short-day selections from the UC strawberry breeding program will be presented, and information will be provided about other related horticultural topics. Dr. Frank Zalom will discuss his research with the strawberry entomology program and Dr. Tom Gordon will review his research on Verticillium wilt management and resistance. Dr. Dan Legard of the California Strawberry Commission will provide a brief regulatory update.
