Interns Positions, La Boca Center for Sustainability, Ignacio, CO Activities include horse farming and logging, vegetable crops, grain production, meat animals, goat dairy, fiber animals. We are a sustainable farm with opportunities in large scale gardening, horse farming grain crops, sustainable horse logging, small mill operation, animal husbandry including milk goats, sheep, alpacas, llamas, cows and chickens, and management of fiber animals and fiber processing. Our mission is research and education in sustainable agriculture. In our 4th year of operation this will be the last year for intern opportunities before we begin an intensive 8 month apprentice program in sustainable agriculture. Rising Farmworker Dream Fund, $10,000 Scholarship for Pre-MBA Students, Application deadline is: June 1, 2008
The Rising Farmworker Dream Fund (RFDF), focuses on improving the lives of U.S. farm laborers through the power and resources of business. One of our initiatives is increasing the number of sons & daughters of farmworkers attending top business schools. Our belief is that the more members of the farmworking community that understand and embrace business principles, values, and skills, the more resources will flow to this under resourced, disadvantaged group.
To help qualified candidates pursue the MBA degree, RFDF is offering financial assistance and mentorship resources. This year, we are offering a $10,000 fellowship to candidates applying to a graduate business school in 2008 and $500-$2,500 fellowships for college juniors and seniors to pay for MBA admissions preparation fees.

The goal of the Rural Advancement Foundation International (RAFI) Tobacco Communities Reinvestment Fund is to keep farmers in farming and maintain the economic base of North Carolina’s rural communities. The Reinvestment Fund aims to assist farmers and rural communities in selected North Carolina counties to develop new sources of agricultural income through provision of cost-share grants. The Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) has issued its Request for Proposals for organic research and education projects for Fall 2008 grants. OFRF offers funds for research on any topic that will improve organic production systems, and for education and outreach projects to share organic farming information with current organic producers and to farmers and ranchers considering transitioning their operations to organic.
