Current Intern Projects

Below are some examples of some of the exciting projects CCOF project interns are currently working on.

Event Coordinators (2):

The event coordinators work collectively with CCOF marketing and certification staff planning and implementing organic events and tradeshows, obtaining sponsorships, and selling the CCOF brand. Event coordinators must have strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask and coordinate, and be comfortable speaking directly with CCOF members and clients.

Publication Assistant:

The publication assistant works in tandem with the CCOF marketing staff on the quarterly production of CCOF’s Certified Organic Magazine.  The Publication Assistant will research and draft articles, assist with sourcing photographs, and help to compile the calendar of events and classified advertising sections of the magazine. The publication assistant must have excellent writing and research skills along with the confidence to speak directly to CCOF members and outside speakers and organizations.

Press and Communications Assistant:

The Press and Media Assistant works closely with CCOF marketing and certification staff on press release activities, CCOF’s regular e-newsletter, advocacy action alerts and other email communications to CCOF certified clients and interested parties.  The press and communications assistant is also responsible for keeping databases and lists related to press and communications activities up-to-date and for assisting with tracking CCOF interactions with the press and compiling press clippings. The press and communications assistant must have excellent writing, editing, Excel, database and research skills.

Community Outreach Coordinator:

The Community Outreach Coordinator will assist marketing and certification staff with planning and organizing CCOF’s presence at community and public events. The Community Outreach Coordinator will liaise with outside agencies organizing the events and be in charge of CCOF registration. The Coordinator will also liaise with CCOF staff to determine a roster of who will attend, prepare CCOF’s booth and marketing materials as well as attend the events.

Open Intern Projects

Website and Internet Marketing Coordinator:

The website and internet marketing coordinator will work closely with CCOF marketing and IT staff to assist with keeping CCOF’s website up-to-date and with posting CCOF information to other relevant websites and blogs. They will regularly update the calendar and classified advertising section of the CCOF website using Adobe Contribute and ensure all downloadable forms are up-to-date and links are working using FTP software. They will also work to develop online forms and to maintain the multi-dimensional CCOF website. To support CCOF’s internet marketing strategy they will research complimentary website and internet media and make efforts to see CCOF activities are well represented on these sites. Applicants should be able to perform the tasks stated above, and must have some knowledge of the above software and applications. HTML and Dreamweaver experience would also be desirable.

Chapter Development Assistant :

The Chapter Development Assistant works directly with CCOF Certified Members, CCOF Marketing and Certification Staff, Regional Service Representatives (RSR's), and local community members strengthening and maintaining the valuable CCOF chapter system. The chapter development assistant will also be responsible for new program development, community outreach, and working to secure funding for individual chapter operations within the CCOF chapter system. Applicants must have strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask and coordinate, and be comfortable writing and speaking directly with CCOF members and clients.

Graphic Designer:

The graphic designer will work in the CCOF marketing department creating and editing graphics needed for CCOF publications and merchandise. Applicants for the graphic designer position should have experience and skill in using programs such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as Microsoft Power Point and other multimedia tools. Familiarity with layout design for publication is also recommended.
