Activist/Consumer Websites
The
Organic Consumers Association (OCA)
promotes food safety, organic farming and sustainable agricultural
practices in the U.S. and internationally. We provide consumers
with factual information they can use to make informed food choices.
Genetic engineering, irradiation, toxic sludge fertilizer, mad cow
disease, rBGH are some of the issues we address. (Be sure to check
out the parody site www.purefoods.org
- add an "s" to the above web site. Strangely, no one
has attached a name and claimed ownership of this site.)

companies that manufacture them are held liable for any harm they
cause. Also see their ge resources at http://www.panna.org/resources/ge.html
Mothers
for Natural Law
Founded in June 1996 to transform the overwhelming problems facing
families into simple, practical action steps every mother can take
to safeguard the health, well-being and innocence of her children.
Our agenda originally embraced everything from the environment to
crime, education, health and the economy. However, because of its
extreme urgency, we made genetic engineering our only focus for
our first four years, and put all of our other plans on hold.
The
Campaign
Established to create a national grassroots consumer campaign for
the purpose of lobbying Congress and the President to pass legislation
that will require the labeling of genetically engineered foods in
the United States.

Genetic
Resources Action International (GRAIN)
An international non-governmental organization, established in 1990,
to help further a global movement of popular action against one
of the world's most pervasive threats to world food and livelihood
security: genetic erosion. The loss of biological diversity, particularly
in the "gene rich" countries of the Third World, undermines
the very sense of sustainable agriculture as it destroys choices
for the future and robs people of a key resource base for survival.
Genetic erosion is more than just the loss of genes. It is the loss
of options for development.

to make educated and appropriate choices.

GM crops
