New Director of Farm Programs Certification

CCOF Certification Services is pleased to announce the promotion of Amy Lamendella to the position of Director of Farm Programs Certification. In this role Amy will oversee all CCOF farm and livestock services, as well as the field-level food safety programs for CCOF’s 2,000 farms and ranches. Amy brings a wealth of experience and history with CCOF to this position. She will support CCOF’s ongoing service improvements and paperwork reduction initiatives.

Increasing GMO Testing

As described in our blog post “CCOF Focused on Moving Organic Forward”, CCOF will be expanding GMO testing within the Periodic Residue Testing requirement of NOP 205.670. CCOF firmly believes that organic is non-GMO. In an effort to ensure effective measures are implemented, CCOF will be integrating GMO testing in addition to current pesticide residue testing efforts.

New Certificates Soon After ALL Inspections

Did you know that all certified CCOF operations remain certified until their certification is formally withdrawn, suspended, or revoked? Did you know that you can have a new copy of your certificate — effectively a federal license — at any time? It’s true. You are certified and you can have a new certificate at any time. During the recent membership survey it came to our attention that waiting for new certificates is a challenge and creates unnecessary stress for some operations.

CCOF Participating in IFT Annual Meeting

CCOF Certification Services President Jake Lewin will be participating in this year’s Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) annual meeting. Lewin will be a speaker in the "Labeling Products for the Global Organic Market" session, where he will give a review of organic exports under equivalencies and in growing markets.

Organic System Plan Updates

CCOF maintains a convenient, modular OSP and streamlined annual update process. Under the NOP’s recent training modules, CCOF is working to help our clients understand the types of operational changes that may require an OSP update or approval.

CCOF Revises Program Manuals

In an effort to improve our materials we have revised all CCOF program and standards manuals. In particular, all clients are strongly encouraged to review the CCOF Certification Services Program Manual. This is your best resource regarding your rights and expectations and CCOF policies. This revision is intended to provide a clearer description of the certification process and costs including one time fees and other policies.

Renewals Are Coming!

Every year, you are required to submit the annual Continuation of Certification contract and pay your certification fee. In mid-November, we will mail you your renewal package of contract and invoice. To complete the renewal process and remain certified in good standing, you must complete your renewal contract and pay your annual fees by January 1, 2013.
