In October 2012 CCOF notified clients that all package labels for organic products must state "Certified Organic by CCOF" BELOW the name and contact information for your operation. The deadline for changing labels that do not comply was January 1, 2014. This deadline has been extended to January 1, 2016.

If the statement "Certified Organic by CCOF" is anywhere else on your label, such as next to your company name, above it, near it, etc., you will need to change your labels by January 1, 2016.

This change affects existing retail labels used on packaged products labeled as "100% organic," "organic," or "Made with organic…". The change does not affect labels or language used on unpackaged product in wholesale, bulk, or shipping containers, such as produce boxes.

If you are designing a new label for approval by CCOF, the "Certified Organic by CCOF" statement must be BELOW the name and contact information of your operation before the label will be approved.

The transition period deadline was extended as a result of CCOF’s work with other advocacy groups in convincing the NOP that operations would need more time to comply.
