Effective July 30, 2021, the California Department of Food and Agricultureu2019s (CDFA) State Organic Program (SOP) issued a stop use notice for the products EcoMight-Pro and W.O.W. (WHACK OUT WEEDS!) manufactured by EcoMight LLC. Of these two products, only EcoMight-Pro had previously been approved by CCOF for use in organic production by CCOF-certified operations.
The products tested positive for the presence of multiple synthetic chemical compounds prohibited for use in organic production under the USDA organic regulations at 7 CFR u00a7205.105: Allowed and prohibited substances, methods, and ingredients in organic production and handling. The identified compounds include Glyphosate, Bifenthrin, Permethrin, and others. California operations have been instructed to discontinue the use of both products on land registered as organic immediately.
While the reported evidence here relates to EcoMight-Pro and W.O.W. (WHACK OUT WEEDS!) found in the State of California, operations outside California should review their use of these products to ensure that they comply with 7 CFR u00a7205.105.
Any CCOF-certified operation using EcoMight-Pro should evaluate whether they need to update their OSP to reflect the discontinued use of this product. Please notify CCOF if you need to make any updates to your OSP Materials List in response to this notice.
