Bipartisan Support for Organic Agriculture Research Continues to Gain Momentum

CCOF applauds the growing bipartisan support for organic agriculture research in both chambers of Congress, including the broad support for organic research from California members of the House.

Yesterday, Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Bob Casey (D-PA) introduced the Organic Agriculture Research Act of 2018. This bill increases federal investment in the Organic Agriculture Research and Extension Initiative, which funds organic agricultural research throughout the United States.

This bill compliments the House Organic Agriculture Research Act (H.R. 2436), which has a strong showing of bipartisan support from California members of the House, including Jimmy Panetta (D-CA-20), Doug LaMalfa (R-CA-1), Jeff Denham (R-CA-10), David Valadao (R-CA-21), Scott Peters (D-CA-52), Barbara Lee (D-CA-13), Zoe Lofgren (D-CA-19), Jim Costa (D-CA-16), Ted Lieu (D-CA-33), Julia Brownley (D-CA-26), Tony Cardenas (D-CA-29), Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA-40), Salud Cabajal (D-CA-24), and Jared Huffman (D-CA-2). Both bills will be considered for inclusion in the 2018 Farm Bill.
