CDFA and Israeli Ministry of Ag to Co-Host Forum on Water and Agriculture

One year after California Department of Food and Agriculture’s (CDFA) Secretary Karen Ross led a delegation to Israel on a California Climate-Smart Agriculture Policy Mission, CDFA and the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will co-host a forum on water and agriculture.

The forum will be held at the Leland Stanford Mansion in Sacramento on May 25, 2017. The agenda includes a full day of discussion from Israeli and Californian officials and researchers speaking on water and agriculture issues. Registration for the forum costs $40 and includes lunch.

The forum will cover introductions to Californian and Israeli agriculture, water policy and economics, sustainable groundwater management, irrigation and water quality, and irrigation efficiency.

Speakers include The Honorable Uri Ariel, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Israel; CDFA Secretary Karen Ross; Felicia Marcus, Chair of the State Water Resources Control Board; Tami Shor, the Israel Water Authority; Karla Nemeth, California Natural Resources Agency; Dr. Jay Lund, University of California’s Center for Watershed Sciences; Itzik Ben-David, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; and Consul Gili Ovadia, Israeli Economic Trade Mission to the West Coast; and others.
