Meet Kiley Clark: A CCOF Foundation Future Organic Farmer

The Future Organic Farmer Grant winners were judged to have the strongest combination of commitment to leading a lifelong career in organic agriculture, investment and participation in the organic community, and dedication to growing the organic movement. Each grant recipient will receive $2,500 to apply toward their studies in organic agriculture.

Kiley Clark is an aspiring farmer who knows a thing or two about food. Prior to enrolling in the Sustainable Agriculture program at Santa Rosa Junior College, Clark worked in various positions in kitchens around Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. Over the last 10 years, she has worked her way from assisting with pastries at a five-star French restaurant, to becoming a bread baker, to managing the kitchen for a food truck. Clark has seen a lot of fruits and vegetables—some mediocre, some downright frightening.

Cooking has elicited a curiosity in Clark for a greater understanding our food system, as well as a desire to get her hands on the best produce possible. As a native of South Central Los Angeles, Clark brings a keen understanding of the barriers to fresh, sustainable produce. She is on a mission to feed as many people as she can. Clark holds a Bachelor’s degree in geography from San Francisco State University with a double concentration in physical geography and urban environment, transportation, and land use.
