The spring 2015 National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) meeting will be held April 27-30 in La Jolla, California. All CCOF members are encouraged to attend! This biannual meeting impacts what materials are allowed for use in organic production. After reviewing public comment and hearing testimony at the meeting, NOSB will make recommendations on standards and materials to the National Organic Program (NOP). NOSB will review a diverse set of materials at the meeting such as from sulfur and copper materials used in crop production, aspirin and iodine used in livestock production, and flavor and chlorine products used by handling operations.

Phil LaRocca, Chair of CCOF Board of Directors, will join other CCOF members and staff at the meeting to share expertise on organic standards, as well as testify on production and handling practices.

In preparation for the meeting, submitted comments in response to the spring 2015 meeting agenda. CCOF analyzed the list of almost 200 materials that the NOSB will review and submitted public comments. CCOF also addressed prevention strategies for keeping genetically modified organisms out of organic production and handling. See the comments below and make plans to attend this important meeting.
