Los productores org\u00e1nicos se comprometen a cultivar y criar alimentos con m\u00e9todos ecol\u00f3gicos, y una de las contrapartidas es que las explotaciones org\u00e1nicas exigen m\u00e1s mano de obra para mantener esas pr\u00e1cticas. Para profundizar en los retos a los que se enfrentan los productores org\u00e1nicos, he encuestado a productores org\u00e1nicos de todo tipo de cultivos, escala y geograf\u00eda.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Una de las conclusiones m\u00e1s significativas de mis conversaciones y encuestas es el aprecio por la dedicaci\u00f3n y el duro trabajo de los productores org\u00e1nicos. Los productores ecol\u00f3gicos no son s\u00f3lo cultivadores, sino tambi\u00e9n obreros, que a menudo trabajan muchas horas para mantener los est\u00e1ndares org\u00e1nicos. Teniendo esto en cuenta, sab\u00eda que ten\u00eda que adoptar varios enfoques para llegar a los productores org\u00e1nicos. Me puse en contacto con los productores por correo electr\u00f3nico, tel\u00e9fono y boletines informativos y les anim\u00e9 a participar en nuestro formulario de encuesta en l\u00ednea.       Despu\u00e9s, decid\u00ed reunirme con los productores all\u00ed donde trabajan y acud\u00ed a los mercados de productos org\u00e1nicos para llegar a m\u00e1s productores. Hasta este oto\u00f1o, he recogido un total de 49 encuestas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>La encuesta revel\u00f3 que los retos laborales en la producci\u00f3n org\u00e1nica son complejos. La falta de acceso a una mano de obra constante supone un obst\u00e1culo importante.       A menudo, las exigencias de la agricultura org\u00e1nica a peque\u00f1a escala pueden ser estacionales, con per\u00edodos intensos de siembra, escarda y cosecha. Encontrar y retener a los trabajadores estacionales dispuestos a comprometerse con horarios flexibles puede ser un reto y puede afectar a la consistencia de la mano de obra.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, la encuesta destacaba la cuesti\u00f3n de los costes laborales. La agricultura org\u00e1nica suele requerir m\u00e1s cuidados pr\u00e1cticos, como el deshierbe manual y el control de plagas. Esto puede traducirse en mayores gastos de mano de obra, lo que, combinado con la menor escala de muchas explotaciones org\u00e1nicas, puede afectar a la viabilidad de estas explotaciones. Sin embargo, la encuesta tambi\u00e9n demostr\u00f3 la voluntad de los productores org\u00e1nicos de defender pol\u00edticas que les apoyen a ellos y a sus trabajadores.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Todav\u00eda estamos buscando encuestar a productores org\u00e1nicos y estamos ofreciendo un estipendio de $25 a los productores org\u00e1nicos que participen.
