CCOF Welcomes New Policy Director, Rebekah Weber!

Last week, CCOF welcomed our new policy director, Rebekah Weber. Weber comes to CCOF from Vermont, where she worked as a clean water advocate for Conservation Law Foundation. In this role, Weber built coalitions of diverse stakeholders and advanced legislation to protect Lake Champlain and improve community resilience. Previously, Weber engaged in farmer outreach as a Fulbright Fellow in Nepal and worked on agriculture and environmental policy for U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy.

CCOF Will Be at Expo Orgánico

CCOF will be at Expo Orgánico at the World Trade Center in Mexico City, Mexico from June 22 through 24, 2016.

Expo Orgánico is the largest organic trade show in Mexico, where producers from Mexico showcase their products to buyers from Europe, Canada, and the United States.

CCOF’s 2016 Annual Meeting & Conference – Drafting a Blueprint for an Organic World

On February 29, over 170 organic farmers, producers, policy makers, researchers, and business leaders came together in Sacramento to discuss the future of organic at CCOF’s 2016 Annual Meeting & Conference. At the Annual Meeting, keynote speaker Nikiko Masumoto set the tone for the day with an inspiring talk about being a second generation farmer.

CCOF’s Fall 2018 NOSB Comments

CCOF submitted 10 written comments to the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) ahead of the fall 2018 NOSB meeting.
 
NOSB is the federal advisory committee to the National Organic program and meets twice per year to discuss organic standards. This fall the meeting will be held on October 24-26, 2018 in St. Paul, Minnesota. At the meeting in St.

Next week, CCOF is releasing our Roadmap to an Organic California: Policy Report, the next installment in a first-of-its-kind research project that investigates how organic is a solution to California’s toughest challenges.

Congressman Garamendi Cosponsors Organic Integrity Bill

Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA-3) joins fellows California Congressional delegates in supporting organic integrity with his cosponsorship of the Organic Farmer and Consumer Protection Act of 2017, H.R.3871.
 
H.R.3871 would ensure a fair playing field for organic producers and protect consumer trust in the organic seal by strengthening the USDA National Organic Program’s oversight of domestic and international organic production.
 

Congressman LaMalfa Supports Organic Farmers in 2018 Farm Bill

Last week, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-CA-01) took action to support his organic constituents when he signed on as a cosponsor of H.R.3871, the Organic Farmer and Consumer Protection Act.
