Assemblymember Irwin Introduces Bill to Help Farmers

Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D – Thousand Oaks) introduced a bill into the California State Assembly, AB-2377, to establish a technical assistance grant program for farmers and ranchers applying for California’s Climate Smart Agriculture programs. The technical assistance grants will address the difficulty in designing, applying for, and implementing projects for the programs.
 

Bricmont Hardship Assistance Deadline Extended to Nov. 23

Do you know that CCOF has a hardship assistance fund for certified organic growers and handlers that have gone through natural disasters and other financial hardships? Operations may apply for hardship assistance to offset financial burdens caused by fire, flood, freeze, illness, hurricane, pest pressures, and other major hardships.

Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund: Deadline Approaching for K-8 and Vocational/Higher Education Grants!

The deadlines for two categories of the CCOF Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund is fast approaching. In a statewide partnership with the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom, kindergarten through eighth grade grants of $1,000 are currently available for organic classroom projects in California schools. Future Organic Farmer Grants Open for 2015

The CCOF Foundation is excited to re-open applications for the Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund in 2015. Partnering again with the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom and the National FFA (Future Farmers of America), as well as hosting our own granting process, the Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund will be doubling our grants this year, giving away a total of $100,000 in 2015!

Help Organic Farms Affected by Fire—Donate to the CCOF Foundation

News that many of our organic operations have been impacted by the wildfires raging throughout California has rippled through the CCOF offices this week. Inspectors, chapter members, and certified members have called to see how CCOF can lend a hand. CCOF’s Bricmont Fund is poised to help organic operations in their time of need, but we have limited funds to give away as hardship assistance grants this year. We need your help to raise additional funds to support wildfire victims in California.
