32 Years! It’s a Celebration!

Woodleaf Farm and Pomotierra are celebrating 32 years of certification with CCOF. Only 23 of nearly 2,800 clients have been certified for over 30 years. This is a monumental accomplishment and we wish them continued success in the coming years!

A Conversation with Chris Hay of Say Hay Farms

Most people think of mobile homes as a place to live, but not Chris Hay. He uses them for pest management on his eight-acre farm in Woodland, California, where he harvests a variety of fruits, vegetables, and chickens.

Alcohol and Organic Farming – Methane, Frogs and Men on Mars

I was lucky enough visit Whisky Hill Farms and Blume Distillation this summer. I was blown away by the scope of this 14-acre certified organic farm. Not only are they the largest producer of domestic Turmeric, but they provide answers to the food waste dilemma by producing high grade commercial alcohol. I soon learned that everything that comes from the distillery goes right back into the farm!

Apricot Lane Farms, a recent addition to the CCOF family, is bringing the dynamic world of organic to a cinematic audience. The Biggest Little Farm is a new documentary that follows farmers John and Molly Chester’s journey as they leave their life in Los Angeles behind to convert a desolate conventional 200-acre lemon orchard into a thriving organic and biodynamic farm. The film discusses the challenges of working with the land organically and managing all that nature throws their way. From pests to drought to wildfires, the Chesters work together to find natural solutions.
