32 Years! It’s a Celebration!

Woodleaf Farm and Pomotierra are celebrating 32 years of certification with CCOF. Only 23 of nearly 2,800 clients have been certified for over 30 years. This is a monumental accomplishment and we wish them continued success in the coming years!

A Conversation with Chris Hay of Say Hay Farms

Most people think of mobile homes as a place to live, but not Chris Hay. He uses them for pest management on his eight-acre farm in Woodland, California, where he harvests a variety of fruits, vegetables, and chickens.

CCOF Board Member Named as CDFA Deputy Secretary

CCOF-certified member Jenny Lester Moffitt of Dixon Ridge Farms has been appointed Deputy Secretary for Legislation and Special Assistant to the Secretary at the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA). Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced the appointment last week. Moffitt has been managing director of Dixon Ridge Farms since 2005 and served on the CCOF Board for over two years. She previously served as an education, outreach and research specialist at the American Farmland Trust and is vice chair of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board.

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) recently announced awards to 12 CCOF-certified organic farms through the CDFA Healthy Soils Program

Organic green smoothie company Green Mustache was founded by a mother who struggled to incorporate more vegetables into her three-year-old’s diet, a challenge faced by many parents. When a routine check-up revealed that her child was lacking vital nutrients, Green Mustache’s founder and CEO VanTrang Manges started hiding dark green veggies in smoothies where the taste could be easily camouflaged. From that point on, Manges built up a business creating smoothies for children—and adults too!

Lundberg Family Farms Celebrates the Life of Wendell J. Lundberg

Wendell J. Lundberg, the second eldest of four brothers who built Lundberg Family Farms, a national leader in organic rice and whole grain products, died on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Enloe Hospital in Chico, CA. He was 85 years old.

Wendell J. Lundberg was born August 17, 1930 in Holdridge, Nebraska to Albert and Frances Lundberg. In 1937, Wendell and brothers Eldon, Homer and Harlan moved with their parents to Richvale, California.
