Established in 1980, Sierra Orchards is 450 acres that produces mainly organic walnuts and olive oil. We incorporate sustainability into every part of our operation including conservation and education. Some of the sustainable practices that we use include fertilizing with cover crops, implementing zero-tillage which increases water and nutrient retention, and using Integrated Pest Management. An important aspect of sustainability is to spread the practice to future generations. We work with the Center for Land-Based Learning which reaches 2000 students each year.
