National Organic Program Deputy Administrator Dr. Jennifer Tucker provided an overview of organic compliance and enforcement during CCOF’s At-Large Chapter meeting on June 7. The meeting was held via Zoom and a recording may be viewed on CCOF’s YouTube channel.
It may come as no surprise to learn that those in the CCOF community are often connected through multiple generations of organic farming and community. It is never easy to say goodbye to a member of our community, but it is easy to honor the life and legacy they leave behind.
Jesse Buie, president of Ole Brook Organics, grows a range of specialty crops on one of only fifteen certified organic farms located in Mississippi (according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service’s most recent organic survey). Certified by CCOF since 2013, Jesse is committed to growing organically in the difficult cropping environment of the South and to providing his community with healthy food.
This November, CCOF will launch a survey of our membership in partnership with Washington State University’s Social and Economic Sciences Research Center (SESRC).
It is important to receive responses from a wide range of CCOF-certified businesses, so we encourage as many of our members as possible to submit your survey. Your information and responses will remain confidential; the results will be presented in such a way that no individual’s response can be identified by CCOF.
CCOF shares a big appreciation to Bill Reynolds of Eel River Produce in Humboldt County for his expertise in seed breeding and commitment to organic agriculture. Reynolds, a certified organic farmer since 1989, is an organic farmer specializing in dry farming and known for developing the dark start zucchini, Eel River melon, stella blue squash, and other crops.

Jeff Huckaby, president of CCOF-certified Grimmway Farms and Cal-Organic Farms, has received the Organic Trade Association’s prestigious Farmer of the Year award for 2020.
Fair Farm Colorado, a CCOF member based in Longmont, Colorado, is the first egg operation to be certified to the Laying Hen and Pullet standards of the Global Animal Partnership (GAP), a comprehensive farm animal welfare standards program. Fair Farm Colorado’s operation is certified to GAP’s Entire Life on Farm (Step 5+).
