The newest CCOF Foundation supporter Anaerobe Systems has partnered with University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) to launch a research project featuring their organic input, approved by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).
Anaerobe Systems is the culmination of 40 years’ worth of dedicated science and research, led by company founder Dr. Mike Cox. This partnership between UCSC and Anaerobe Systems will open up new opportunities for research on products aimed at promoting sustainable and organic farming practices to improve soil health, soil quality, and crop yield while addressing California’s climate needs. This project will focus on FermeGROW, the ag-based bio-fertilizer produced by Anaerobe Systems. The product is made by a novel fermentative breakdown of agriculture waste into a natural liquid fertilizer. It shows promise in promoting plant growth in organic systems.
Many students at the UCSC Center for Agroecology have received grants from the CCOF Foundation to further their own studies in organic farming practices. This latest iteration of research is a welcome pairing between a company that funds our grant programs and the students who, in turn, conduct and provide research to the organic agricultural community at large.
