California’s New Comparable-to-Organic Cannabis Program

por Jen Rojas |

CCOF is now accepting applications from licensed cannabis operations in the state of California for the new OCal comparable-to-organic program.

El Programa OCal es una certificación para el cannabis exclusiva para California, diseñada por la California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) para cultivadores y distribuidores autorizados y por la California Department of Public Health (CDPH) for licensed cannabis manufacturers. This program will implement and enforce standards for cannabis that are consistent with the Programa Nacional Orgánico (NOP), which governs standards for products labeled certified organic. Currently, federal laws prevent the certification and labeling of cannabis as organic under the NOP. However, the OCal program makes California the first state to establish a comparable-to-organic cannabis program.

Cannabis harvested or processed before an on-site inspection will not be eligible for OCal certification.
