We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with OB People’s Food Co-op, a longtime CCOF-certified organic handler, for their Annual Meeting and Community Day on Saturday, April 18, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the People’s parking lot. This event is a great opportunity for co-op members and the San Diego community to reflect on the past year, celebrate sustainable food, and connect over shared values.
Keynote from CCOF Board Chair Thaddeus Barsotti
CCOF’s new Board Chair, Thaddeus Barsotti, will give the keynote at OB People’s Annual Meeting. Born and raised on a small organic farm in Yolo County, Thaddeus and his brothers grew their family farm, Capay Organic, and the CSA Farm Fresh To You into the largest of its kind on the West Coast. His story shows how small-scale organic farming can grow into a thriving enterprise that supports communities and farmers alike.
What to Expect at the Event
Attendees will enjoy snacks from OB People’s 100% certified organic produce and deli departments, refreshing beverages, and special giveaways. You can connect with local organizations including Feeding San Diego, Cans 4 Books, San Diego Environmental Services, and the San Diego River Foundation. Bring or purchase food donations to support these community partners. Speeches from OB People’s leadership will share the co-op’s financial health and impact, and CCOF will offer insights into the future of organic farming.
Supporting the Next Generation of Organic Farmers
At the meeting, OB People’s will detail their Board’s decision to provide a $5,000 donation to fund a Future Organic Farmer grant in 2026. Community members are encouraged to support aspiring organic farmers by donating at the register throughout the second quarter of 2026. If you are a young, aspiring organic farmer enrolled in a U.S.-based program that advances your career, the Future Organic Farmer Grant can provide funding to support your passion and commitment to a career in organic agriculture.
