CCOF certified farmers have long recognized the importance of applying compost for overall soil health and crop fertility. When applying compost regularly, maintaining a diverse soil microbiology can also support food safety efforts. On October 15, 2025, CCOF and Western Growers are hosting a Coalition of Food Safety & Sustainability Compost Field Day Event. Come learn about the compost making process and the many values of compost applications at the ComGro Compost Facility in Hollister, CA.
Discover how compost is made: watch the whole process, learn about different types of compost, and hear all about the values and potential risks of compost. Join us for an exciting day of collaboration and discovery, unifying both food safety and sustainability experts – bringing content and learning opportunities for how compost can safely be integrated into best produce safety and sustainability practices.
CCOF offers a suite of certification services, including USDA organic and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) benchmarked certifications such as PrimusGFS and GLOBALG.A.P. Given the regulatory overlap, often these inspections can be combined to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Email foodsafety@ccof.org to learn more about our food safety programs.
