Join Our New Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund Supporters

With fewer young people going into agriculture, many agricultural experts and sector leaders are concerned about the future of American farming. New organic farmers and entrepreneurs are needed to meet the demand for organic products that are healthy for both people and the planet. The Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund helps grow the next generation of farmers by providing financial support for organic education from kindergarten through college!

Join the CCOF Foundation for Thank You Thursday at Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing on March 15

Santa Cruz, California is a unique place. Nestled between redwood trees and a vast ocean coastline, those who have the privilege to live and work in Santa Cruz cherish its community. Although technically a city, Santa Cruz has a small-town vibe: local businessowners create lasting relationships with their patrons and give back wherever possible. One such local business, Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing (SCM Brew), likes to give back with an event called Thank You Thursday.

I have been honored to be the executive director for the UNFI Foundation since its inception in 2012. Early on, my board asked me how we could bring together likeminded foundations to make a larger impact in our priority areas together as a community.

Meet Abby Klinger: A CCOF Foundation Future Organic Farmer

Klinger

Abby Klinger

I will be growing sunflowers in order to make an organic, preservative-free sunflower oil. This grant will help me purchase a hand-cranked oil press. Depending on the size of my crop, I may also roast the seeds for sale. I am going to trial this project in my family's garden. After a couple of seasons, I plan to rent a field from a local farmer to increase production.
