CCOF Welcomes New Policy Director, Rebekah Weber!

by Noah Lakritz |

Last week, CCOF welcomed our new policy director, Rebekah Weber. Weber comes to CCOF from Vermont, where she worked as a clean water advocate for Conservation Law Foundation. In this role, Weber built coalitions of diverse stakeholders and advanced legislation to protect Lake Champlain and improve community resilience. Previously, Weber engaged in farmer outreach as a Fulbright Fellow in Nepal and worked on agriculture and environmental policy for U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy. She holds a Master of Arts degree in environmental law and policy from Vermont Law School and a Master of Science degree in conservation biology from Complutense University of Madrid.

“Organic offers a solution to many of the challenges we face today, from growing the state’s economy to combatting climate change,” said Weber. “I am honored to join the dedicated staff at CCOF, who have been at the forefront of supporting organic agriculture and expanding access to organic food.”

“Rebekah Weber’s proven ability to listen to the needs of diverse producers and build coalitions will bring tremendous value to CCOF as we continue to advance organic for a healthy world through policy and advocacy,” said CCOF CEO Kelly Damewood.

With Weber at the helm, the CCOF policy team will continue to support organic farmers, increase access to organic foods, uphold organic standards, and respond to our members’ changing needs.

Weber will be based in CCOF’s home office in Santa Cruz, California and can be reached at rweber@ccof.org
