Blue Heron Farm Fallbrook

Description

Coastal breezes keep the farm cool in the summer and relatively warm in the winter. The 650-foot elevation puts it out of the coastal fog zone.

The result of the unusual climate zone is that a wide variety of fruits and vegetables can be grown.

Blue Heron Farm has been certified organic since 1992. Main crops are baby lettuce, sugar snap peas, heirloom tomatoes and strawberries. Many other fruits and vegetables are grown in the fertile soil, including mangoes, several citrus varieties, pomegranates, guavas, beans and squash.

Produce from the farm can be found in upscale restaurants in San Diego and Los Angeles, as well as in various stores and Certified Farmer’s Markets and has been featured in several magazine and newspaper articles on organic farming, the farm also appeared in Kitty Morse’s book The California Farm Cookbook.
