CCOF Foundation Fall Teatime with Nitricity: Supporting Farmers in Organic Transition

Transitioning to organic farming is no small task. Farmers face a three-year waiting period before certification, new management practices to learn, and the potential for short-term yield reductions and higher costs. Yet the rewards—healthier soils, resilient ecosystems, and stronger farm businesses—are worth the effort.

The CCOF Foundation and our Champion-level donor, Nitricity, invite you to join us for our Virtual Fall Teatime focused on the realities of organic transition on Wednesday, October 29 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm Pacific Time. Together, we’ll explore the resources available to farmers navigating this journey and discuss how we can continue to strengthen support for transitioning farmers for years to come. Sign up here to join us.

Featured Speaker: Tiziano Celli of Nitricity

We’re honored to welcome Tiziano Celli, CCA, agronomist and crop nutrition specialist at Nitricity for this conversation about Organic Transition. With international experience across the U.S., Spain, Italy, and Germany, Tiziano brings expertise in nitrogen fertilizer innovation, biostimulant research, and sustainable input development. At Nitricity, he leads agronomic trials and research collaborations to deliver low-carbon, plant-based fertilizer solutions that help growers improve soil health and nutrient efficiency.

Why Nitricity?

Nitricity was founded with a simple goal: to create fertilizers that are better for fields, farmers, and the environment. Their plant-based products are designed to support soil health and sustainability—an approach that aligns closely with organic farming principles.

The CCOF Foundation’s Role in Transition

The CCOF Foundation has worked side by side with growers to advance organic since 1973, when a small group of farmers gathered around a kitchen table to share a vision for clean, healthy food. Today, our community has grown into thousands of organic producers across North America, along with a dedicated team working to ensure farmers have the tools they need to thrive.

Through grants, training, and transition support, the CCOF Foundation:

  • Awarded nearly $7 million in grants to support future organic farmers, those in transition, and those experiencing hardship.
  • Provided nearly 7,000 producers with education and training through our Organic Training Institute.
  • Supported the transition of over 100,000 acres of farmland to organic.
  • Leads the USDA National Organic Program’s West/Southwest Regional Center for Organic Transition across seven states.
  • Serves as one of the leads for the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s Organic Transition Pilot Program.
