As previously announced, the USDA negotiated changes to the US-Japan Organic equivalency. Effective October 1, 2025, alcohol sold as “Organic” in Japan must be certified under the terms of the US-Japan Organic Equivalency and bear the JAS organic seal. Check out our updated International Labeling Guide and the USDA’s Japan Equivalency page and Japan FAQs for full details.
The equivalency also allows wines labeled “Made with Organic Grapes” to continue to be exported outside of the equivalency, without a TM-11 USDA Export Certificate, JAS seal, or JAS-certified importer.

If the labels for these wines include the CCOF logo, you will need to switch to a new version of the CCOF logo that does not include the words “Certified Organic.” Download the new logo from our website and be sure to submit updated labels to us before printing. No other label changes are required to continue exporting outside of the equivalency.
