Stay Informed on Organic Policy

As a trade association, it is our job to represent the organic perspective in policy decisions that affect our members and the organic sector. Our policy work is guided by our belief that organic agriculture is good for the economy, good for jobs, and good for the environment. We believe that a strong organic sector is based on the integrity of the organic label.

Examples of CCOF priorities are ensuring strong, well-funded USDA organic programs such as the National Organic Certification Cost Share Program, organic research, conservation programs, support for beginning farmers and ranchers, organic crop insurance coverage, and funding for the National Organic Program (NOP). On the state level, we have worked on a range of issues, including invasive pest eradication, conservation funding, on-farm renewable energy, climate change issues, and regulations pertaining to organic fertilizers. In September 2016, Governor Brown signed into law the CCOF-sponsored California Organic Food and Farming Act (COFFA), bringing about much-needed reform to support the state’s growing organic sector.

In order to represent the voice of organic, we need your support. We keep you informed about important issues and give you the tools you need to make your voice heard, so together we can protect organic food and agriculture.
